As a family company with a century-long connection to East Yorkshire we have always been champions of our local community, whether that’s creating local employment, supporting local sports teams and charities, or simply ensuring our customers get their heating oil and boiler’s serviced in good time for the cold weather.

On Sunday our team of staff from the Rix Petroleum Mercia ran the Chester Marathon.

This weekend the Rix Petroleum balloon team took to the road and went to the balloon festival in Naburn, North Yorkshire.

Back in October 2013, we looked at Scotland’s downstream oil industry (Grangemouth strike, Compulsory Oil Stocking Obligations; https://www.rix.co.uk/blog/2013/11/the-october-oil-market-report-with-a-scottish-twist/ ) and with only 3 weeks to go until the Independence Referendum, it seems a fairly appropriate time to head “North of the Border” once again and consider Scotland’s much larger upstream oil industry.

All visitors to the Rix Petroleum stand will have a chance of winning 500 litres of heating oil if they can guess how many litres of domestic heating oil we delivered in 2014. The answer closest to the correct answer will win.

It’s fair to say that for a country that relies heavily on people taking summer holidays, Greece seemed on the brink of ruining a lot of those holidays as June and July progressed.
