Young Farmer Tractor Run To Raise Money For Heart Screenings In Schools

Skirlaugh Young Farmers will use their 6th annual charity tractor run, which takes place on Sunday, April 21st, to support Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Tragically, Josh died from sudden arithmetic death syndrome (SADS) while playing football aged just 15, in 2011.

Since that time his parents, Rich and Donna, have raised more than £100,000 for Cry in an effort to make screenings for the condition standard practice in schools.

Emily Jackson, from Skirlaugh Young Farmers, has been instrumental in organising the event.

She said: “We’re really looking forward to this year’s tractor run. It is the sixth year we have staged it and it is always well supported.

“This year’s charity is one that is close to a lot of people’s heart’s because Josh was a local lad and a lot of people knew him and went to school with him, so it’s a great cause to support.”

The event starts from Old Hall Farm, Catwick, at 10am and takes in Long Riston, Arnold, Swine, Skirlaugh, Hatfield, Mappleton, Hornsea, Atwick, Bewholme, Brandesburton and Leven.

The event is being sponsored by leading family fuel company, Rix Petroleum.
