Exhibitors and visitors were delighted to welcome the presence of Royal princess Anne who walked amoungst the crowds and presented some of the prizes at the show on the day.
Paul Doherty, Director at Rix Petroleum Midlands, managed to take a few photo's of Princess Anne as she passed through, he's one for you to see:
Paul, spoke with the event organisers to find out more about her visit and this is what they had to say.
'Sue Westmacott the committee secretary for the Forest of Arden Agricultural Society had written to the Royal family for the last 26 years inviting a royal visit to our annual ploughing and hedging competition to no avail. This year she wrote adding that she will be retiring and that maybe prompted confirmation from the Royal family that a representative would attend this year.
Princess Anne was confirmed as attendee and she flew in by Helicopter, walking past trade stands, chatting and taking an interest on the way to undertake presentation of prizes to the competition winners.
She then stayed around and went off to view the ploughing and hedge-laying and was quite knowledgeable on all thing agriculture
The show organisers said the visit was a real coup for them and it was fantastic to have a royal attending and showing such a great interest in agriculture in Warwickshire'.
