When was the last time you went to church? A wedding? Funeral? Christening? OK, so we might not turn out every Sunday like our forefathers did, but churches can lend a welcome air of gravitas to life’s more important events.

Considering the process of creating fossil fuels, generating a significant amount of the C02 that is pumped into the atmosphere each year, some have questioned if this energy source fits in with the government’s carbon reduction targets. A young person’s support group set up to help those who care for family members has won prizes to the value of £500 in a community competition. Speada, which stands for Sports, People socialising, Education, Activities, Disabilities, All Welcome, won the money after entering the ‘We Care’ competition run by Spalding fuel company Rix Petroleum.

Rix Petroleum Ltd and the Gazette and Herald got together to run a competition for the newspapers readers to win 500 litres of home heating oil, worth about £500.

Ten lucky customers of Rix Petroleum and Rix Maritime Bunkering were treated to a day out at the Lotus F1 factory in Enstone on Friday 14th September in partnership with Total. Amongst the guests were Mr & Mrs Reed who won two tickets to the day at the Driffield Show 2012.
